Happy World Wildlife Day!

March 3rd is World Wildlife Day. Defenders of Wildlife are celebrating today, asking our support for the crucial work they do:

“Defenders works on the ground, in the courts, and on Capitol Hill to protect and restore imperiled wildlife across North America and around the world. Together, we can ensure a future for the wildlife and wild places we all love.” https://defenders.org/

The Defenders have warned that building “the wall” would wreak havoc on wildlife by destroying their homes. Please sign the Defenders’ Petition, asking that Congress refuse to fund “the border wall” in order to defend and protect wildlife habitat at the border and help to save species at risk, such as endangered Mexican gray wolves, ocelots and jaguars.  https://secure.defenders.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=3286&s_src=3WDW1805AFHXXX&s_subsrc=herowebsite

This year, the focus of World Wildlife Day is on big cats:

“From Florida panthers to jaguars to tigers – these powerful and graceful predators have been declining at an alarming rate across the globe. Humans pose the biggest threat to big cats, but we also have the power to save them.

This World Wildlife Day, you can make a difference for big cats and other imperiled wildlife by making a symbolic adoption from Defenders’ Wildlife Adoption & Gifts Center. Enter promo code BIGCATS at checkout and receive 25% off any of our cat adoption kits.

Every adoption will help fund our critical work on behalf of big cats like jaguars and Florida panthers – and even not-so-big cats like the Canada lynx. But it’s not just cats – your adoption will also help other amazing threatened and endangered animals.”

Please consider symbolically adopting one of these big cats in honor of World Wildlife Day!
